THIS WEEK AT HYPEROID - 10/02/2023

This Week At Hyperoid, we start building foundations.

New Beginnings

Hello and welcome all who are reading this.

Throughout this post I want to get into detail about: who I am, what Hyperoid is and what the future holds before closing off with some final thoughts. This is the first ever news post on this website. As with anything, the first time can be a hit or miss, so excuse any mistakes you may come across while reading this post. I’ll try my best to rectify them in a timely manner.

Call Me Hyper

Hi, I’m Hyper. The Founder and CEO of Hyperoid. Let me tell you a bit about my background. Some of it might sound cringe but, I need to get used to writing these posts…

I love creating things. For the past few years, I developed a huge buzz off of working on projects that I enjoyed. There is something about seeing your creation come to fruition, its a feeling like no other I can tell you that. When I’m working on these projects, dare I say it, it often feels like I am playing god in a way. Alright, I think that’s enough cringe.

I’m sure by now you understand. I genuinely enjoy working on projects and making things. You might be thinking: “making what exactly?”. You will find an answer to that question as you read on…

What Is Hyperoid?

Hyperoid is a company dedicated to creating things.

More specifically, dedicated to creating things within the realm of software (for now). Right now it’s just me, I am the only person deciding on what to create. Since my head is filled with a lot of knowledge about software and decent amount of experience on how to go about developing these kinds of things, it only made sense to explore what I could create within this realm.

I want to keep the aspect of this company broad to begin with. As you will read later on, I do have plans for the far future and and what it brings.

Getting a team together at this point would be crucial as I honestly cannot only do this by myself. So I am making a public announcement here: if you want to know more and are keen to be a part of the team, hit me up on any of the socials and we can have a chat.

The Current Path

Currently, I am working on PROJECT ERIS (development title). You can find out more details about the project here

This project will be a 2D mobile game targeted for iOS and Android. A release date has not been set yet because it is still early in development. However, a demo is set to be released soon as of writing this post. The purpose of the demo is to gauge if the moment-to-moment gameplay is intriguing enough, and fine tune the prototype simultaneously based on feedback. Keep an eye out for a future post on how you can get your hands on the demo.

If the gameplay concept is well recieved, based on feedback, the demo will be fine tuned and polished so that it can be presented to publishers. Honestly, I could self publish if I wanted to, but right now I just don’t have the marketing arm that publishers can provide. Having the mobile game published by an actual publisher can come with a lot of benefits. A big one is marketing. Publishers already have an established audience, which means that getting this project known is much easierThere are some drawbacks to this though, like: not having as much creative control over the project compared to self publishing. This is why I am researching publishers thoroughly, because there are good publishers and also bad publishers. The last thing I want is to be stuck in a bad contract with a sleazy publisher (that’s even if I do manage to get a contract in the first place).

The Road Ahead

While getting a publishing deal, I plan to start a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds in order to develop the project into a fully fledged product (this can be in addition to signing a deal with a publisher, if I get one). With the funding I can do things like hire/outsource creative talent to streamline development and also advertise this mobile game to the world.

In the near future I need to build a solid team within Hyperoid so we can release this game. After that, we may tackle on new projects in the same domain as this one but change an aspect about what we do with the project. Maybe we try our hands at 3D instead of 2D (wink wink). Maybe we try our hands on VR, who knows.

In the far future Hyperoid should expand to more specialized areas that are dedicated to the creating (or providing a service of) more specific things. The work done in these specialized areas will be carried out by subsidiaries of Hyperoid. What the work will entail will be a part of what a particular subsidiary is dedicated to creating.

This may sounds really ambitious and all but all great things started somewhere, somehow and with an idea. This journey will be long. No doubt there will be ups and downs and many changes along the way, however it is imperative that I at least try.

At least, that is the plan.

Closing Thoughts

If you have made it this far, I thank you for reading up until now. You must have at least some interest to follow what I am doing.

My intentions with these posts are to build a community as time goes on. This is so that readers like you can look at these news posts in order to gain an insight on what’s going within Hyperoid and generally keep up to date with the current on-goings. These posts will also be somewhat of a ‘development story’ as Hyperoid grows to be more than just me, hopefully.

If there is anything I have learnt from writing this, it’s that I have no idea how to write these news posts. I plan to release one of these per week. Let’s call them a TWAH (This Week At Hyperoid). Any additional posts will be about something different, of course. This would also be a good time to link socials before I dip out of here.

YouTubeTwitter. I think that’s it for now.

“This is Hyper, signing out.”
