THIS WEEK AT HYPEROID - 17/03/2023

This Week At Hyperoid, we set a release date.

TL;DR

The PROJECT ERIS demo will release on 24/03/23. The week ahead until the release will be used to make sure the groundwork for feedback streams are properly set in place.

Demo Release Date

Everyone, mark 24th March 2023 on you calendars. This is when the PROJECT ERIS demo will be released. It will release on Android first and then on iOS soon after. Later on in the article I will get into what’s going to be happening from now up until the demo release.

Feedback Streams

In this TWAH article, I stated that I delayed the demo release up until mid March. 24th March 2023 isn’t quite mid March. Originally the demo was going to be released this week, however I actually wanted to spend an extra week setting the groundwork for the feedback streams. So, I am using the time from now up until the demo release to do just that. It’s important the demo is released, but one of the main reasons it’s being released is to get feedback on it. Which is why I should also spend some time trying to set up the groundwork properly in order to get quality feedback.

Now I want to specify some objectives for gathering feedback because, I don’t want to jump into collecting feedback with no clear goal in mind. With that being said, the overarching goal is to find out if gameplay is intriguing enough. What do I mean by gameplay? It can mean many things, but in the context of the demo it could be things like: “Do abilities feel satisfying to use?”, “Are boss battles engaging?”, “Are the puzzle mechanics too easy/too hard?”. These are some, but not all, of the things I will be looking out for. At the end of the day, you could give feedback on any aspect of the demo. I am willing to experiment with ideas!

You may be asking: “where do I give all this feedback?” and I’m glad you asked. Well, one of the most obvious ways will be through the individual app stores themselves, where the demo will be released to. You can give a rating and leave a review which will give me at a glance information on what’s good and bad about the demo. Another primary way of delivering feedback is through a forums page which will be up by the time the demo releases (be sure to check back here when it is up). On this page, registered users can create topics pertaining to the demo which will give more detailed feedback on the demo. Let’s not leave out social media. YouTube, Twitter and Discord will be the primary ways of gathering feedback via this avenue. Lastly, you will be able to send emails too via a contact form that will appear here when the demo releases. After a couple weeks, when the demo has been in your hands for a while, a survey will be released as a final way to sum up the feedback I have collected.

As with all things, try to keep the feedback civil. If you wish to give some criticism, please do make sure that it is constructive.

Closing Thoughts

The PROJECT ERIS demo is done, and it’s release is just around the corner. The feedback gathered from the demo will be used to polish and fine-tune it so that it can be shown to potential publishers.

And one more thing. I shouldn’t be calling it a demo honestly. It’s more of a prototype if anything. I guess i’m going to stick with ‘demo’ because I’ve been using that since the first news article was published. Anyway, be on the lookout next week…
