THIS WEEK AT HYPEROID - 07/04/2023
This Week At Hyperoid, we are almost there.
TL;DR
Alright, before we get into this post, I’m just going to say that it’s going to be a short one. The Project Eris demo has almost been released to the iOS App Store. There are a few problems with the app listing, which I talk about in detail further into the post. If you have tried the demo out already, please do remember to give feedback if you can, it would help a lot.
Demo Almost Released On iOS App Store
In the previous TWAH article I mentions that I had trouble getting into the Apple account and that it was in the process of being recovered. I also mentions that this process could take upto several days. This is not the case anymore. Shortly after that article was posted, I managed to get back into the account!
So, the Project Eris demo has almost been released to the iOS App Store. What do I mean by this? Well, it was actually released to the iOS App Store, but then I just took the listing down because I realised that the developer name on the app listing showed my real name. This is not ideal as the developer name that shows on the listing should actually be ‘Hyperoid Games‘ instead.
I did some digging as to why this was the case and found out a couple things. The Apple developer account I used to release the demo to the store was enrolled as an ‘individual‘. When Apple developer accounts release apps the developer name will use the personal name of the person that created the account. Also, while enrolled as an ‘individual’, the developer name cannot be changed. However, if enrolled as an ‘organization‘, then you do get the option to set a developer name.
The Google developer account that was used to release the demo onto the Google Play Store is enrolled as an organization, I completely forgot to do it with the Apple Developer account too. Nevertheless, I contacted Apple support in order to switch to an organization membership. They did say that it would take 1 to 2 business days to get back to me. Sorry again iOS users, you’re gonna have to wait a tiny bit more…
Closing Thoughts
When Apple gets back to me and I am able to switch to to an organization membership, I will promptly make the app listing available again on the iOS App Store. See my personal Twitter for updates and stay tuned.
P.S. Just a friendly reminder to people who have already tried the demo on Android devices, please do leave feeback if you can. The most straight forward way would be to leave a review on the actual store listing. There are other ways to give feedback as well, if you would like to. Your feedback directly contributes to making this project something bigger and better.
